Alex McClelland grew up in Northeast Tennessee as a BA : Political Science graduate from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Diverging from his original pursuit of JD in Constitutional Law, Alex followed a spiritual calling becoming a graduate with High Distinction from Liberty University’s Master of Arts program in Professional Counseling.
In response to the Opioid Crisis, Alex is a passionately devoted to architecting a community-based continuum of high-quality clinical programs specializing in treatment of co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. He joined the River City team in December 2019 as the VP of Clinical Operations overseeing launch of the RCCCS programs including: Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient, SA Case Management, Mobile Crisis Intervention team, and River City Residential Clinically-Managed Low Intensity treatment facilities. Currently a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Alex is simultaneously completing dual Residencies to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner who specializes in program development.
After meeting his amazing wife Caitlin in college at UTK, Alex moved to Richmond in 2015 to marry her and start their family. He is a proud husband and father of his two beautiful daughters Audrey Lynn and Langley Anne aka “The Doodle Monster”. Outside of River City, He enjoys live music, snowboarding, roller coasters, watching college football, and relaxing with his family.
